The roar of a chainsaw and the beauty of handcrafted artistry will come together this summer at the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair as Jessica Shreve, owner and artist of Jessie Lee Chain Saw Art, takes the stage with live carving demonstrations daily at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

Fairgoers will have the chance to watch ordinary logs transformed into incredible works of art right before their eyes. Combining speed, creativity, and precision, Jessie Lee’s live performances showcase the unique craft of chainsaw carving — an art form that.

blends rugged skill with fine artistic detail. Chainsaw carving has grown into a respected folk art tradition, with artists across the country using chainsaws and hand tools to create everything from wildlife sculptures to rustic Appalachian-inspired pieces.

Visitors can expect an exciting and interactive experience as Jessie Lee brings large wooden sculptures to life throughout the fairgrounds. Each demonstration highlights the craftsmanship, imagination, and hard work that make handmade art so special. In addition to daily demonstrations, Jessie Lee has her art on display for purchase throughout the three-day fair.

The live carving demonstrations are just one of the many attractions planned for this year’s fair, which continues its tradition of celebrating Appalachian handmade heritage crafts, regional artistry, music, food, and family fun. In addition to daily demonstrations, Jessie Lee has her art on display for purchase throughout the three-day fair.

The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair returns to Cedar Lakes in Ripley, West Virginia, July 2-4, 2026. Guests can explore more than 100 artisans, enjoy live entertainment, heritage demonstrations, and discover why the fair has remained the “Heart of Handmade” since 1963.
