Mountain State Art and Craft Fair Returns for its 63rd Year – Bigger and Better Than Ever!
Founded in 1963, the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair (MSACF) returns for its 63rd year, July 3–5, at the beautiful Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley, West Virginia. A cherished summer tradition, the fair celebrates Appalachian heritage, creativity, and community spirit—and for 2025, the tradition continues with some exciting new additions.

The MSACF Board of Directors has been working diligently behind the scenes to grow and revitalize the fair. Like many events across the country, the early 2020s brought challenges, including the effects of COVID-19 and the retirement of many long-time artisans who had been the backbone of the fair for decades. But in the years since, MSACF has not only rebounded—it has flourished.
For 2025, the Board set an ambitious goal: attract 25 new exhibitors and concessionaires while maintaining the exceptional quality that defines the MSACF. We're proud to announce that the goal was surpassed—27 new vendors will be joining us this year! That means more tents and exciting new indoor venues. In addition to the traditional outdoor areas, guests will now find artisans and exhibitors inside the Craft House, Assembly Hall, and Jackson Hall.
As it has for more than six decades, the fair is expected to draw thousands of visitors from across the state and beyond. Known as “West Virginia’s premier showcase for handmade art,” the MSACF blends old-world charm with modern creativity. From pottery and woodworking to fiber arts, glasswork, photography, and jewelry, the fair offers an impressive array of handcrafted treasures. Whether you’re a collector, casual shopper, or on the hunt for a one-of-a-kind gift, there’s something for everyone.
But the MSACF is more than just shopping—it’s an immersive experience. Live music performances will fill the air with the sounds of Appalachian, bluegrass, folk, and country traditions. And new this year, we’re shining a spotlight on emerging talent with an open mic session on the fair’s opening day. From solo performers to garage bands, we invite local talent to take the stage. To apply, visit www.msacf.com/openmicapplication.
If you’re feeling musical yourself, be sure to visit our interactive music wall. Featuring traditional Appalachian “instruments” like washboards, spoons, and even a handmade xylophone, it’s the perfect place to create your own tune—and maybe your next hit!
Live demonstrations by master artisans remain a highlight of the fair. Watch as a basket weaver crafts with native reeds, a glassblower turns West Virginia sand into shimmering works of art, and quilters stitch heirlooms that will last generations. These interactive showcases bring history to life, and many artisans are happy to answer questions and share their stories.
Families will find plenty to enjoy as well, including the ever-popular Kids Fishing Derby, hands-on crafts, and storytelling sessions. It's a perfect opportunity to introduce younger generations to the region’s rich culture and creative traditions.
And let’s not forget the food! From kettle corn and funnel cakes to mouthwatering BBQ and heritage-inspired meals, the MSACF is a feast for all the senses. New this year is our Appalachian Dessert Contest—an exciting opportunity for home bakers to show off their sweetest creations.
