For more than 60 years, the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair has been a treasured tradition in West Virginia. It brings together artisans, craftspeople, and communities to celebrate the Mountain State's rich cultural heritage. But behind the handmade quilts, woodcarvings, and Appalachian melodies are the people whose dedication and passion have helped shape the Fair into what it is today.
More than 40 years ago, the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair Hall of Fame was established to recognize those extraordinary individuals and corporations whose unwavering support and contributions have left a lasting impact on the Fair and its mission. These honorees have gone above and beyond to help nourish and preserve West Virginia’s cultural traditions, making them accessible and meaningful for future generations.
From founding members and longtime volunteers to community leaders and supportive businesses, the Hall of Fame is a living tribute to the visionaries who understood the importance of celebrating and sustaining West Virginia’s folkways, artistry, and community spirit.
The award is presented annually, and nominations are open to the public. To be considered for the current year, submissions must be received by June 1. If you know someone whose contributions have helped carry forward the mission of the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair, we encourage you to nominate them.

Each year, new inductees are welcomed into the Hall of Fame during a special ceremony at the Fair—an event that’s as heartfelt as it is inspiring. Their stories remind us that preserving culture isn’t just about crafts or performances; it’s about people. People who believe in the value of
heritage, who give their time and talent freely, and who help build a legacy that endures.
As we look to the future of the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair, we do so standing on the shoulders of Hall of Fame members whose passion and perseverance have made it all possible.
